WHAT MATTERS TO US
Many people can attest that reclaiming the care of our own dying, dead, and bereaved can be a powerful and healing experience, and taking control of the process really is possible with information and support along the way
PACE
Contrary to how we have been trained to respond - death is not an emergency.
You can take your time to consider all available options and make the choices that feel right for you and your loved one as you go. We can support you to have as much time with them as you need before your final farewell.
PLACE
Under most circumstances it is possible for you to keep or bring your loved one home or to a place of your choosing after they die. We can provide a cold plate or techni-ice that helps to keep them cool for up to 5 days as you prepare to farewell them. We can also support you to source a casket or shroud and link you with local cremation or burial services.
PEOPLE
The best people to look after your loved one after they have died is the family and friends that have known and loved them in life - and it is your absolute right to do so. We support you to have as much involvement in caring for their body, preparing their farewell, and organising their final disposition as you want, and we link you with others who can assist where needed.
PLANET
We know that many people share our priority of stepping lightly on the planet. We can advise on natural and low environmental impact options that respect both the body of your loved one, and the land we all share. There is rarely a need for invasive embalming or chemical intervention with a body and it is possible to source caskets, shrouds and body disposal options with environmental care at their core.
PRICE
Family-led funerals are more affordable and it is possible to manage as much or as little in the post-death process as you are comfortable with. You don't need to out-source this very natural process to strangers. It is possible to farewell your loved one with care, love, and attention to detail without the need for expensive trimmings and add-ons. We can support you with advice and guidance where needed.
PLAN
Many people find comfort in having conversations that plan for what comes after death. We encourage families to discuss together what their wants and needs are before someone dies, so that honouring a loved one's intentions does not become a series of guesses or decisions under pressure. We know this can be difficult and are available to support you to have these conversations and make plans in advance if required.
